Chao Center of Purdue University Donates Multidrug-resistant-TB Medication

The GHC will receive $360,000 worth of medicines free to help fight multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB), thanks to Purdue University and Eli Lilly and Co. The Chao Center, a Purdue-affiliated pharmaceutical manufacturing center in West Lafayette, Indiana, is providing about 1,800 bottles of Lilly’s antibiotic Seromycin® (cycloserine). The generous gift will allow the GHC to bring life-saving treatment for MDR-TB to more people in Cambodia and Ethiopia and complements Lilly’s previous donation of another antibiotic, capreomycin, a cornerstone of MDR therapy.
